Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Music-Forte. Plain language, no surprises. By using the platform you agree to these terms.

Last updated ยท May 2026

Who these terms are between

These terms ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Tillafrica Ltd ("Music-Forte", "we", "us"), a company registered in Uganda, operating the platform at music-forte.pages.dev and any successor domain.

Acceptance

You accept these Terms by creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the platform. If you don't agree, don't use it. Where the platform is provided to you through a school or institution, your use is also governed by that institution's agreement with us, which prevails over these Terms in case of conflict.

Your account

  • You must be old enough to enter into a contract in your jurisdiction. For users under 18 in Uganda, accounts must be created with parent/guardian or school permission.
  • One account per person. Don't share credentials.
  • You're responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect compromise โ€” support@music-forte.app.
  • You can delete your account at any time from /account โ†’ Danger.

Acceptable use

Detailed rules live in the Acceptable Use Policy. In short: don't do anything illegal, don't harass anyone, don't try to break our security, don't use the AI to generate sexual content involving minors or content that promotes violence, and don't use the music-generation tools to violate someone else's copyright. The Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

AI-generated content

AI output can be wrong. Treat lesson plans, harmonisations, critiques, and coaching narratives as drafts to review โ€” not as verified facts or correct musical practice.
  • Yours when generated. Subject to these Terms and our subprocessors' rights, you own the AI-generated artifacts you produce โ€” lesson plans, scores, drills, recordings.
  • No exclusivity. AI models can produce similar outputs for different users. We don't guarantee uniqueness.
  • Verify before publishing. If you publish a generated piece, you're responsible for confirming it doesn't infringe third-party rights and is appropriate for its audience.
  • Coaching is guidance, not assessment. The DeepSeek-generated coaching narrative on Practice runs is a starting point, not a verdict on your playing. UNEB Practical Music is assessed by humans.

Your content

Drafts, recordings, and other content you create on Music-Forte remain yours. By creating them on the platform, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to:

  • Store, transmit, and display your content as needed to operate the platform (e.g. show your draft back to you, sync your recording across devices).
  • Process derivatives needed to render the service โ€” parsing your ABC into a NoteArray, generating audit JSON from your recording, creating thumbnails.
  • Share your content with collaborators you explicitly invite.

We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not sell your content. We don't make it public unless you do. The licence ends when you delete the content โ€” or your account, whichever comes first.

Curriculum alignment

Music-Forte is aligned with the Ugandan NCDC 2025 syllabus and UNEB Practical Music assessment guidelines as of the date listed on the relevant lesson-plan or set-work card. We make best efforts to track syllabus updates promptly, but the official source is always the published syllabus from the National Curriculum Development Centre and the published guidelines from the Uganda National Examinations Board. You should verify time-sensitive information (current set works, exam dates) against those sources.

Service availability

We aim for 99% uptime. We don't guarantee it. We may take the platform down for maintenance, model upgrades, or security response with as much notice as the situation allows. AI features depend on third-party providers (DeepSeek, OpenRouter, Cloudflare AI Gateway); their outages may affect ours.

Practice mode and live page-turn rely on browser features (microphone access, AudioContext, MediaRecorder, WASM). If your browser doesn't support these, the platform falls back to the keyboard-driven flows but the affected features will be unavailable.

Subscriptions and credits

Music-Forte uses a credits model. Free credits are granted at signup and refresh periodically. Paid plans (when offered) provide higher credit allocations and additional features. Pricing, plans, and refund policy are documented on the pricing page when published.

If we materially change pricing, we'll notify subscribers at least 30 days before the change takes effect; you can cancel before then without further charge.

Intellectual property

  • Platform IP. The Music-Forte name, logo, software, and design are owned by Tillafrica Ltd. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them except as the platform's normal operation allows.
  • Set works and corpora. The set-works library combines public-domain works (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven), pedagogical reductions authored by Music-Forte (notably for Ugandan traditional structures), and entries contributed under explicit permission. Each work's provenance is shown on its detail page; respect those terms.
  • Third-party software. The platform uses open-source libraries listed in our acknowledgments (abcjs, Verovio, Essentia.js, CodeMirror, and others). Their licences travel with the software.

Termination

You can stop using the platform at any time and delete your account. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, with notice when possible. On termination, the licences in "Your content" end and we delete your data per the schedule in the privacy policy.

Disclaimers

We provide the platform "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by Ugandan law (and equivalent law where you reside), we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose, and non-infringement. AI features in particular may produce inaccurate or unsuitable output; you bear responsibility for reviewing and using them appropriately.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim under these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or USD 100, whichever is higher. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages โ€” lost data, lost performance opportunities, lost profits โ€” even if foreseeable.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ugandan law (death, personal injury caused by negligence; fraud; statutory rights of consumers).

Your indemnity

If your use of the platform causes us to face a third-party claim โ€” for example, copyright infringement from content you generated and published โ€” you agree to defend and indemnify us against reasonable costs and damages, except to the extent the claim arises from our breach of these Terms.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-product and via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use after the effective date is acceptance.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Uganda. Disputes will first be addressed in good-faith negotiation between the parties; unresolved disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kampala, Uganda. Where the law of your residence gives you mandatory consumer-protection rights, those rights prevail to the extent of any conflict.
